Hope everyone had a good holiday. Now let the countdown to boating season begin.

First of all sorry for the lengthy e-mail but there are a lot of things to cover and many of which are over due.

The officers met on Wednesday January 14th. The primary point of this meeting was to review the member comment forms that were passed out at the Christmas Party. We reviewed the forms that were turned in and comments we all had received from other members on how to make our club better. Here’s a summary of the most common issues that were presented:

· Communication is poor. Members are not given enough notice when something is going on and in some cases either don’t know or only find out by word of mouth. Better communication is essential. The most commonly requested methods of communication were e-mail, offshoreonly.com forum and the MCPA web site.
· More planned activities. Moving forward we will be planning some type of monthly activities. Cold months will naturally be off the water and summer months around but not necessarily limited to the water. While most months during warm weather have a poker run somewhere we will try make everyone aware of what/where poker runs are, who is attending, etc And also have other activities for those who did not want to or can’t attend the poker run.
· Some of the more popular activities suggested were Dale Hollow, Lake Cumberland, Center Hill and/or Florida trips as well as Downtown or Cherokee lunch/dinner runs. Other local activities included gatherings at Black Jack Cove and on Percy Priest Lake.
· More frequent meetings and meetings and gatherings at more central locations that are more easily accessible to everyone involved.

There were many good ideas given in the questionnaires that were returned. The ones listed above were simply the most common suggestions made. The goal is to make our club better, grow and something that everyone enjoys being a part of.

We discussed in our meeting getting a schedule of some activities together to send out ASAP. I was not able to spend much time on this (calls, dates, etc) to put this together but will have something out to everyone by Monday. The first two items that we are planning is a group trip to the Birmingham AL boat show. The show is Thurs 01-21-10 to Sunday 01-24-10. Some may be interested in overnight and some may only want to do a day trip. I am working on finding local area hotels, restaurants, etc and will include this in the next e-mail. It you have any ideas or knowledge of the area please let me know. We are also scheduling a meeting at Black Jack Cove in February. We are trying to plan this for a Sunday afternoon brunch but I have to get the date worked out with them.

Here are some other activities we’re working on putting together:
March - Gambling Junket to Tunica or Metropolis
April – Black Jack Cove get together. If your boat is ready and the weather is nice would
Be a great maiden voyage for 2010
May – May 15th Chattanooga Poker Run everyone who attended the fall run gave this
Run great compliments.
A Saturday night at Elm Hill Marina (assuming they still have their live music) &
Weather permitting spending the night on boats for those interested
June - KY lake trip. The poker run on June 19th is still somewhat up in the air.
We’re thinking plan a trip to KY Lake that weekend in either case
July – Knoxville Poker Run. The date is somewhat up in the air. 10th or 17th

There has been some discussion of a Christmas in July on Old Hickory Lake
Aug – Emerald Coast Poker Run August 14th
Sept – Dale Hollow Sept 4th – 6th (labor day weekend)
Lake Cumberland Poker Run (September 11th)

Sounds like a lot but sounds exciting. We also will be working in some downtown lunch runs, raft ups and more as we go. We want this to be an exciting year but we need participation and help. Any ideas or suggestions you have are greatly appreciated and encouraged. Be careful though. If you suggest it we may just ask you to help with it!

Also, if you know of anyone we have overlooked sending this to, is interested or may be interested in the boat club please pass it along and let us know their info so we can make sure to include them in the future.
