2006 Trans Problems??? F-350
I bought a 2006 F-350, Crew Cab, PSD to tow the boat with. Whenever I come to a stop I can smell what smells like drive gear oil. The trans shifts fine and the temperature gauge is in the safe zone. Has anyone else experienced this or have any ideas????

Re: 2006 Tans Problems??? F-350
Chuck, I too purchased a 06 Ford Dually. I've been smelling something coming to a stop. Smells similar to burnt trans fluid. When I pull the stick out its clean/clear and doesnt smell. I havent given it any thought cuz everything is fine and I see no leaks. I just thought it might be the coating they put on a lot of parts from the manufacturer and will eventually burn off. If you find out different let us know.

It's most likely coatings/paints. You only smell it at speeds low enough not to carry it away from the truck.

Try SPF 30 or higher but leave sunroof open.
Sorry...
How many miles? Probably just oils/coatings burning off
drivetrain.

Re: 2006 Tans Problems??? F-350
Thanks for the repliies. I guess I'll just keep an eye on it. It does seem odd though that I only smell the odor when towing. Wouldn't the coatings be burning off all the time?
