What's in your wallet....NO I mean motor
I also have been looking..........C4500 (Topkick or Kodiak) are over priced for a loaded up model. Other than a F650.....I would go with a F550, but you can only get 6.0 PSD. Not a bad motor but I don't know the history since I am a Chevy man, but the Fords in the big truck in my opinion are winning. Drove an F650 with a 7.2 Cat...top speed 78 mph @ 2000 RPM
And that's all she wrote

Re: Top Kick vs. F550
Another consideration might be the Freightliners or Internationals (not that cxt). Both make some nice haulers. Also i think they warranty them longer.. Just thought of those. My friend was a freightliner mechanic and he said those fl60 roadkings (or something) are fast, ride nice, pull a lot, and have a great warranty.. Another option to consider. Plus both freightliner and International make them 4x4 if want it..

Re: Top Kick vs. F550
The freightliners rock, the turning radius is unreal.
The haul ass over 90 and run forever, I think a 100k warranty.
Only one real big problem,,,, They cost over 100k, too much for me to haul a boat with.
Top speed on my f550 was about 75-80, but it would do it pulling a 40ft skater no problem.
Before I quit racing we were going to change the rear end to make it a little faster. You can get run over on the freeway going that slow now.

Re: Top Kick vs. F550
I know both have web pages.
Freightliner's :
http://www.freightlinertrucks.com
is a good place to start, though I know there are some conversion companies out there, but straight from them they have some nice rigs. The web page has links to dealers.
They have a complete page just for the sport which is the one i think is comparable to the 650 and topkick..
http://www.sportchassis.com
International's:
http://www.internationaldelivers.com...mily/index.asp
I would think you would like the RXT the CXT is just to tall (can't believe i said that) well compared to the 650 and topkick anyways.
Plus they both say they have an unmatched warranty. My friend that was the mechanic said 300,000 not sure if that is true or not. Of course i think they start out costing more, but will probably be worth more in the long run.

Re: Top Kick vs. F550
What kind of boat are you looking at Bob? A 3500 Duramax dually is enough truck to pull a 42 Fountain easily. The Black Thunder overloads it a little but 2 years and no problems yet.
