"boatless at the moment"
Re: Performance Chip for Chevy 6.0 2500HD

I'm only pulling a 20' bowrider w/ trailer and chit at about 4600lbs. So in my case towing isn't a problem now, but i'm looking at larger boats. Was looking at a sunsation 288 or an outlaw like yours, but like you said I don't think I would want to haul anything larger.

i say, get the k&n before you get anything else and see how that does. it is the least expensive of any "mod." exhaust will help to a certain degree, but you really need headers and the hypertech to do the trick. mileage wont increase; why did you go with a gas truck?

I really don't know why I went with gas! I guess I just didn't think I needed a Diesel.........even though I really don't, I just miss the power.

Pony up the $5k for a whipple charger or just sell it and get another diesel. You can't have too much power.

the hypertech that i had a couple years ago was like this: once you use it on a vehicle, you can no longer use it again without setting the vehicle back to factory settings and then at that point you can use it on another vehicle, if that programmer is compatible with the other vehicle.

another thing you might check is:
there are computer programs that some shops have that can insert your chip in a device and "burn" it using the program and software. (might want to ask engine builders) not sure which is cheaper.

Boatless and Looking :)
Re: Performance Chip for Chevy 6.0 2500HD

Hey guys...I've had a 2002 with the 6.0 since December of 2001. I've got a true-dual Gibson cat-back on mine with a UPD performance intake (which includes the K&N filter and uses the stock air box) as well as having the Hypertech. The Hypertech did make a nice difference and the biggest/nicest function for me was to firm the shift points. I did use both the 87 and 93 octane tuning and had nice results. I worked with a tuner from South Dakota at a Corvette show on the dyno and had him load a custom program that takes away the de-tuning from GM as well as adjust the timing and the results are phenomenal. I love the truck and I pull a 25' Eliminator with no problems. I am going to step up to a much larger boat in the next year or so and will hopefully keep the same truck with no worries. As someone already mentioned, a gas engine regardless of size will not compare to the torque of a diesel....EVER. But....the sound of a 6.0 spinning 5500RPM with quality exhaust....is music!!!

The dyno tuner I used was dynotuneusa...their website is: http://dynotuneusa.com/home.htm

Let me know if you have questions as I'd be glad to offer my opinion(s) as those are always free
