Re: Performance Chip for Chevy 6.0 2500HD
No problemo....one thing to remember, this truck IS heavy. It's not a 1/2 ton pickup with a 5.3 in it. The 5.3 screams in the 1/2 ton but the 1/2 ton is strictly a 1/2 ton and it's fairly limited to what it can pull without having a full frame underneath it and heavy duty axles (etc. etc.). The 6.0 "knocker" is a great motor in my opinion....I did call GM and got a written powertrain warranty because of the "knock" that gives me 7 years and 100K miles for the motor (not sure if tranny is included as I don't think it is). Lots of complaints about the cold start knock on this motor and other GM's including the 5.3.....GM stands behind the motor that there are no longevity issues with the motor other than the sound/knock is annoying at start-up. Go GM go....

Dave,
The cold start doesn't bother me, I knew about this issue before I bought the truck. I'll tell you what bothers me though, I have 42000 miles on my truck, and it needs a new torque converter! I have one hell of a vibration comming from the front end between 69 & 75 mph. It's not wheel balance or front end alinment, It's some thing else in the front end. Already had both of those two options already done! My mechanic thinks it's the torque converter. Anybody else have this problem? Then the iceing on the cake, I try to rotate my tires, and I need a metric fu&%ing socket to remove my lug nuts. If I wanted a jap truck I would have bought one!!!!!! Maybe I should have! I think the truck is going on the auction block, I didn't spend $30,000 to have a broken down piece of chit after 42,000 miles.....
Sorry to vent, but i'm pissed!

Sorry for bumping this thread up but dude don't waste your money on these. I was thinking about getting a performance chip too, but it looks like these things don't do crap. I was reading this article about it, and it looks like these things don't work at all

Get a custom tune.
I had mine done by Blackberperformance and it made a huge performance in towing.
go for the cable tune.
Truck got totalled by a POS drunk shortly after ( rip ) and I did buy an 8.1 to replace it, but dont be afraid to rev the 6.0.
