F-450 or F-350/ Outerlimit's Hauler
I will be pulling an Outerlimits 42 Legacy on a triple axle Myco; some xcountry, but mostly 100 miles or so every once in a while.
Do I need to step it up to an F-450?
Will an F-350 do the job just as well?
What are the important differences between the two?
Thanks for the input.
P.S. Don't want to spend the $ for F-650 ect..

F350 is more than fine, just make sure the trailer is up to the task as well, have straps in front and rear, a few threads on here on that as well. Good luck and congrats on the OL, great boat. Jeff

Check the tow rating of the truck needs to be rated to pull the weight of the boat and trailer, if it isnt rated to tow your weight , your insurance could deny the claim if you ever have one, the way my policy reads required me to upsize from a F350 daully to a C4500 Top kick, not worth the chance of a court battle had I had a claim, my F350 pulled my 44MTI just fine, the C4500 doesnt hardly know its back there

I would think if you had a F350, you would need at least 4.10 rear end, but the Tow Boss version has an even higher tow rating with the 4.30 gears. I think the Tow Boss is rated for 18K.
I am in the same situation and looking for a 450 or 550, but they are hard to find... may just go with an F350 with the right gears.

I just bought an 06 F350 4x4 dually with the tow boss pkge and its rated to tow 19200 with a gwv of 26000 lbs(so fords propaganda says) I scrounged around and found one with the 6ft bed cause I liked the maneuverability. The tow boss pkge has different rate springs/different rearend gears(4:30 vs 4:10) on the std dually. I think the 19200 rating is with a 5th wheel hitch though. I love the truck so far, and it tows like theres nothing back there, my 27 pc formula loaded up and full of gass is app 11,000 lbs on the trailer.

Re: F-450 or F-350/ Outerlimit's Hauler
If the Tow Boss 19,200 tow rating is for the fifth wheel what is the rating for conventional tow.
