I aint got $hit
just bought a jeep wrangler tj, whats a good lift and tire size?

Just got a wrangler, never had one before and they are a blast! The tires are way too small. Ive got the 3.73 gears with an inline 6 and auto. would 4" and 33's look good? Dont want to go big foot, but make it look nice.

4" should be plenty to get 33"s under it. I've had an '86, '98, and '01. All lifted. Rancho rides great, but you pay for the name. Skyjacker allows the most lift. I preferred the Rancho, because it rode incredible compared to stock. Scott

Welcome to the Jeep family!!! I am on my (I think) seventh. I can't live without one. Now do yourself a favor and go to these website and get on their catalog list. Do your research first before buying any lift kit and tires. Good luck, Ben

Hey Jason my wife's jeep has the Rancho 4" lift with 33's. Rides nice has pretty good articulation considering the cost of this lift vs others. Never have been out in the rock with it but hey it makes us happy.

She has the 4.10 gears with 6 speed. It runs fine. She had a 6 speed with with 3.73 gears before this one. Once she put the 33's on the this Jeep I thought it had about the same power and acceleration the prior one with 3.73 and 31's.

Re: just bought a jeep wrangler tj, whats a good lift and tire size?

I think a 4" and 33's would be good. It is easy to get carried away and one thing always leads to another.... gears, axles, motor, etc.

I have had fun playing with mine for the past 10 years.... ended up putting a V8 in it and real axles under it. These days I have more fun on the boat so I have put it up for sale. Let me know if anyone is interested....

If you wheel stick with 33's...unless you have a rubicon. Some 4.10(i would do 4.56 b/c the jeep aint no torque monster) gears will make things much better. 4 in RE lift

www.jeepboard.com

It is the OSO for Jeeps. I have a lot of experience with building, wheeling, rolling, rebuilding Jeeps. Go with the Rancho kit. Lifetime warranty. You only buy it once. Springs sag and shocks wear out. With Rancho and a good dealer, I put new springs and shocks on my Jeep every year rather it needs it or not and it doesn't cost me a dime. If you go with 33"s you will probably want to regear to 4.11's because you will lose any highway passing power. That is why I went to a V8 and 4.11's. Of course I am running 36's and lockers.
