Anyone have a Dodge Ram 1500?

My 99 dodge quad cab 4wd w/360 and 3.55gears got 8.5 to 10 mpg empty running back and forth to town. First time I towed the boat I just about flipped out when I drove 110 miles and the low fuel light came on (22 gallons!!!The 360 seemed to have no bottom end tq whatsoever,the truck couldn't stay in lock up or even overdrive EMPTY if wind was blowing.It took 35 seconds stock to hit 55mph with my 7000lb boat and trailer behind it. I re-geared truck to 4.11 gears myself,took the 265 load range b or c stock tires off and put 245 load range e-'s on it,modified the exhaust,put synthetic oil in everything,added a k/n air cleaner housing and truck was night and day different. It got around 11-12mpg empty after the mods and actually pulled pretty good. It would then get 8-10 mpg pulling boat in overdrive at 70mph on flat ground,Smitty

I Have An 02 With 100k Miles On It And Other Than The Paint Issue That I Am Having I Love The Truck. Have Yet To Notice Any Trouble With The Tranny Or Anything Else. Check The Truck For A Chitty Paint Job.

17 HWY?? Thats what I'm looking for. I'm not pulling the boat with this truck...Just driving long distances (200 miles tops) I'll check the paint if I start looking. Most of the problems you guys mentioned seemed to be with the late 90's model. Maybe a lot has changed with the newer trucks.

Most don't say if the truck was 2wd or 4wd. My 2005 is a 4wd quad cab 1500 with the 5.7 and 20" wheels. K&N complete filter and canister kit, programmer and full toneau cover. 17-18 on the hwy @75mph. Average city is 14mpg. 10-12 with the 8000 lb boat and trailer on the hwy at 60-70 mph. No warranty issues at all with this truck. Solid and runs great. With all of the factory rebates and competition between dealers, you have to consider a new 2007, especially with the new selective fuel manangement system.

i have an 02 4wd with the 4.7. i should have waited to get the hemi. i got have got the 5.9 but i was also hearing of tranny problems with that. i didnt hear anything with the 4.7. a problem i had was a just replaced the ujoint in the rear. i also had a problem with the check engine light. i did get it to go off but it took a little playing to figure it out.i was a fuel pressure valve and i was told that that was happening on alot of dodges. anyone else have that problem?

MINE IS 2WD 4.7 Q/CAB WITH 20" WHEELS I SKIPPED OUT ON THE 5.9 BECAUSE THE SALESMAN SAID THEY WERE HAVING TRANNY PROBLEMS WITH THAT SET UP.

Its one hot truck.

it gets 14 city and 17-18 hwy. its got 46,000.00 miles on it.
