I shimmed the center bearing about 1/2 inch and all is good.

The easiest fix is to BUY A DURAMAX- Vibration free from the factory!

and you still have an excel shudder???? could be axle wrap...maybe they installed lift blocks instead of new leafs springs (not a bad thing)...but lift blocks do put more leverage on the axle so if you had the shudder before then it will be there even worse after the lift, you could add traction bars (ladder bars)...or the rear pinion angle is off. does it point straight at the transfer case? maybe it just needs a rear shim. just some thoughts on it.

well the blocks are probably not helping...they added to the leverage on the rear...if you got a new set of springs and took out the block it might help, but i think you said that you had this before the lift, then i think a ladder bar might be a better answer. The rear is twisting up on excel, causing the pinion angle to change, this is the shudder....the ladder bars will keep the rear from twisting up, the new springs minus the block could have the same effect, though usually a lift spring is stiffer then the stock and will make it ride a little stiffer... My buddy had a 97 with 8inch and he had the same issue, so we built the bars and it solved it...side note.check to make sure the rear pinion is aimed straight at the back of the transfer case...if it is to high it will have the same effect...could be to much shim or not enough. just my 02 though i really think the ladder bar would help, and some like the look....I have them on my big mud truck, they keep the rear planted better.....

That's the tires fighting for traction!

cant do a chevy...when the injector problems start i'd be screwed in central america, i use to work at a chevy dealer, the duramaxes are in there constantly with injector issues. the redesigned injectors haven't solved the problem i love gm stuff but the injector issues nix it for costa rica
