I work for ford and have not heard any major issues. They have tested this one alot more than others trying to avoid the issues from the past. I can't wait till it comes out they say the twin turbo already knocked off 1 second from 0-60 thats impressive for a 7500lbs truck.

[QUOTE=2112]If the big three don't stop doing their final development on customers rigs, they will lose even the most die hard loyalists to the japanese (who will be in the big rig show shortly).

I agree! They want a customer 2 buy a 40-50k rig and let them deal w/ end stage r&d by having probs. and let'n the poor buyer deal w/ taking time 2 take it back 2 the dealer! Vehicle down time. Buyer time and effort!!! After all the bad pr on the 6.0 from Ford early on, I can't believe they would not have the new engine spot on! Posts above sure make that ?able!!!!

I had an 04 350 6.0 and it was a piece of crap. I was talked into trading it in by my dealer, who is a good friend, on an 06 6.0 and the first 11,000 miles has been event free. I am interested in this new truck but I wont do anything for at least a year so maybe they will have the bugs worked out by then.
The one thing that amazes me is the life of the 6.0. Why did they even bring the thing out. I was told that they could not make emissions with it and yet they had to know what is was capable of and what the requirements were going to be. I would think with all of the trouble they had with the thing that they would have lost money with it. I am sure they lost customers over it.

My friend's dad did the same thing...traded for an '05 for his '04 for the same payment amount. They were probably thinking the same thing with the troublesome 6.0's. But, our training officer ended up buying the truck from the dealership and has been trouble-free.

Neither. In 4 years NO one is going to want anything to do with a 6.0L Ford. And the 2008 6.4L are going to have too many bugs, just like the 2003/2004 6.0L.

Keep the 2001 and update the front end. Then opt to a 2009 model year (bugs fixed) 6.4L if they are worth a crap after some serious real world widespread use.

Wrinkleface,

Try www.ford-trucks.com and go to their SuperDuty forum. I seem to remember a few people posting who had been in the test program, saying it is significantly quieter than the 6.0L. Almost as quiet as a gas engine.

I also read an article this weekend talking about some of the noise-reduction engineering that went into this new engine. If I find the link I'll post it.
