Ron Manning is building me an aluminum trailer for my new 32 Sunsation Dominator SS. I asked him to put a toolbox on there and he quoted me a 30"x19"x19". I understood the 30" dimension as I am shorter in length and also have a mounted spare. I also thought I would like the height however, you guys have me a bit nervous with your dimensions...thoughts?

He has 1 picture of a mounted toolbox found at http://www.manningmarine.com/images/31.jpg - does that look like these same 30"x19"x19" dimensions?

Me personaly I dont like a bulky looking box, for me its to tall.I also dont like diamond tread. looks cheap to me. Again thats just me and I am alittle weird, anal and worry more about looks Remember I am the person that polished (mirror)a alumiun I beam trailer for my Scarab

Just think of what all ya might put in it??? if ya need it that big? I bought one at a time , filled it up ordered another filed it up and could use one more .I figured it might get in the way when loading the boat...... But I am use to Drag racing carring spare everything and intisapate breaking something or even someone else thinking what someone else might need.

Remember theres a lot of people making diamond tread boxs.shop around.

looking at the pick someone will prob be leaning over the box winching the boat up the the v block unless ya power load.

alot of the dimond tread tool boxs like goes in truck are clear coated and after 3 years turn yellow, peal, but some are not cleared .

Make sure what thickness it is if ya want to stand on it.When I load mine on ,its hard not to stepp on it.

hope this helps

IMHO 18" boxes, or in your case 19" deep box is too big and hard to work around.

I feel the same about diamond tread. I would choose painted steel before I did that. Luckily, I have a black trailer so that does leave the painted steel box option as I posted above.
The problem with that is the wieght of the box itself...

First choice is smooth aluminum, polished or not.

14"D x 14/16"H x whatever length is just about right. It's easier to work around extra hieght than depth.

Thanks guys...that helps. Especially the comment about the winch. I will call him tomorrow and talk it thru...

Regarding what I will put in it, already made a list ;

Trailer – bottle jack, lug wrench, mini compressor, bearing buddies, grease gun, grease, wheel chocks

Boat – tow straps, plug, spare prop, prop wrench, pwr steer fluid, outdrive oil

Misc – bungee cords, rags, chain, adj wrench, wd-40

What did I miss?

I keep my props in the truck. you will need the bigger box if ya put the props in it.

I also have spare hub, bearrings ,break lines for when a tire blows out and takes out the brake lines ,extra trailer lights ,ball grease , tools to pull hubs off, etc, extra lugs nuts,

What else do yawll put in them,????

let's see, 10extra lbs, 50 miles a year, account for aerodynamic drag, this COULD cost you big....I'm thinkin' I'll just order it with the trailer........
