Cummins has been throwing some heavy money at their OEM's. I know of two ex Cummins fleets that typically buy 250-300 tractors per year that cleaned their fllets out in 2006 and purchased Cat C13's. Cat had some variable valve actuator problems with 13's. When I asked the fleets about it they said it was a nuisance type problem they are working through. However, the Cummins problems they said were financially draining the company, in so many words.

I can't promise a delivery date on a new emission Cat motor. They do not have the R and D completed yet.

Paccar who owns Pete and KW, is branding a Cummins medium duty motor called the PX-6 and PX-8. They (Paccar)are building a new plant near Atlanta to manufacture these exclusively for Paccar.

Downtown,

If you go to the Louisville truck show ICT will have Bob Anderson's of Reliabel Carriers truck on display. Bob's truck has a 204" sleeper. Make Andy's truck that was in your shop look like a day cab.

More lights, and stainless than you could ever see on a working truck. Bob's truck is a daily driver with over 225,000 miles on the odometer. Truck is only year and half old.

Tom A. keeps him busy

That is a sweet truck. I think all trucks should come with a shower, that way maybe some of the drivers would get a clue and use it.

DT42,
How are your sales doing this year with the 06 Pre-Buy and the increased engine cost? Majority of the industry was expecting 30% downturn, but not sure what you are seeing at the retail level?

We both have 10 speed fullers and 3.90 rears. I think Macks are hard to beat when it comes to dump work. Theres a zillion dumps around here, and I would say 80% are macks. Although I would love a KW or Pete. They are great looking trucks, and contractors tend to give you a little more respect when you pull up to the job. They tend to be a little more careful with my buddies Pete and Kenworth then my Mack. I think they assume Im a company driver, and tend to whack my trailer a lot when loading me

Mack does a good job for dumps. They are very popular in Milw area as well. Parts I hear can get expensive but I guess everything is. I have several friends that run them.

The market is/will be down this year for sure. I'm guessing 30% also. New 08 engines are up 8-10k although factory is giving good credits now to keep the doors open.

There is very limited production with Cat right now. We have orders also that have been pushed back. In dealing with a customer, I will stand by my statement that I cannot guarantee a delivery time and will be on the contract as well. CYA_
If I could I would!!
