they definitely went low-bidder on the winch, don't care for the cable either, that will corrode and get painful in no time.

I will not use anything but a cable. I have had too many nylon straps break. I am guessing your boat is bouncing when trailering. It look like it is pulling up on the winch. Get some safety chains or tie down straps from the bow eye to the eye on the trailer crossbar.

I've had good luck with winches but the only way to go is a nice heavy 20K+ lb strap.
The stock seat-belt material strap busted right at the stitching behind the hook while retrieving on a steep launch ramp. Luckily the boat was all up.
Champion trailer supply among others has HD stuff. That's where I got my very heavy-duty yellow winch strap replacement.
    cables do suck.

that or just pulling too much wieght. Are you pulling the boat up too dry?

as far as the strap I have as much faith in this monster replacement I got as any cable. Taking into consideration also the twisting of the cable, binding on the spool, and potential for a nasty laceration at the very least when a strand breaks, or much worse if the whole thing let go.

I hardly have to winch it at all...I think the 386 is just too much weight...it doesn't bounce at all and I crank it about 6-8" when loading...I think I'll go with the strap...I have the strap type on my 31 and no problems(I actually cranked that one right up cause the way the boat bunks it was a pain any other way)...kind of funny the people say how great the MYCO is and Performance trailers are junk...the Performance has a lot better winch

It looks like either the winch stand is bent, or the boat isn't on the trailer straight. Maybe it's the camera angle, but the bow eye doesn't look centered between the two bumpers.

It happened to me as well on my Myco, but it was my own fault. I saw it happen when the boat was up and I went for that extra "click" to make sure it was down tight. Like they always told me, the winch is only there to move the boat.

Our Fountian Myco did the same thing. I was going to make a plate to go between the two bolts so as to compress the back of the winch down as a whole and not just at the bolts.
