When I wanted to convert mine...the trailer was still very new. I called the trailer manufacture and they sold me what they had to convert. The tongue assembly (to rid the trailer of the actuator) and the BrakeRite assembly, the metal bracket for the BrakerRite to mount to and the battery box with battery along with the wire harness.
Now the friend of mine bought the type (and I really can't remember) but I think it butted right against the mater cylinder. I don't know what he did with this surge actuator. I will ask him....

I would definetly weld a nice bead on the actuator. That banging would worry my drive train.
