Blue is for reverse lights/reverse solenoid lock out for surge brakes. Electric brakes can vary depending on setup/manufacturer.

In a 7pin plug, there is 2 blue wires. The larger one is for the electric brake system and the smaller blue wire is the back-up lights.
In any system use a test light to verify the wireing. I have seen way tomany misswired plugs.
If you go to Draw-tite.com you will find the different plugs and how they are wired. If you still need help, I can fax over the info to you.

Black if present should be aux power.
Red if present should be reverse lights.
