Factory rim is 6.5 inches- to small for a 285 tire. You will need to upgrade to an 8 inch rim.

Yep,
The "right" way would be to go with a wider wheel.
Mine have been on this truck for about 20k with no issue. I drive this truck like a sports car.
I think it would take some of the slop out of it in the corners with a wider wheel.
The GM dealer here told me to keep the stock wheels because all these wider aftermarket wheels never have the right backspacing which almost always causes the front wheel bearing to get eaten up...

I'd like to theow some black 18" MotoMetals on this truck, but I don't need headaches.

2000 Cigarette Mystique
Just ordered a set of BFG all terains 285/75-16 from mama tried, he gave me a great deal, shipped them out wednesday, and said they will be here friday!!

i guess i forgot to mention they are mounting on a set of 16 x 8 inch alcoa rims
