Where to mount gps antenna?
I have a Kenwood dvd/gps radio in my F-250. I just bought the Garmin gps box to complete system. Any way my question is where to install the gps antenna? It recommends the roof as the best place. Now I am just crazy enough to drill through my roof ,install a groment w/silicone and be done with it. However the sain part of me says see what my oso brothers think first. I also thought of running the wire through the firewall and putting antenna on hood?? Or running wire under carpet through drain plug in floor and putting antenna behind toolbox on top of bed?? It also says I can install it inside truck with this goofy 2 1/2" metal plate stuck to dashboard but due to looks and possibly bad reception I thought outside truck would be best. So do I get my drill out or what?

Pull out your third brake light, and run it out the top dead center of the opening, and place the antenna on the roof. I did this with my Sirius, and it works/looks great. Re-install with some silicone for extra sealing, and make sure you pad/protect the wire with some shrink wrap/electrical tape as it exits to avoid abrasion issues.

I have used the A Pillar installation on several of my trucks without a problem. Completely hidden. If it doesn't get a good signal you can always put it somewhere else.
