But I'm in the market for a truck to tow my 5500 lb 28 Wellcraft, add 700lb for fuel, 1100 for trailer, 200 for gear and I guess I need to be prepared to tow 7500lb. Check your GWVR and add those items you mentioned above and make sure you're within the limits. The insurance company will give you big balls if you're involved in an incident and you're over the limit, not to mention the saftey of yourself and others. That dude with the Baja is looking for trouble. If he is ever in a panic situation that Baja will throw that 1/2 ton around like a stick. The GWVR of that Avalance is about 7200lbs and it weighs 5700lbs, add in the tongue weight, fuel, cargo, people, blah blah blah and he's over. Also make sure your hitch and ball are up to the task as well. There are many good hitches out there and they're cheap to have installed.
