mielage, has it had injectors replaced, take it to a dealer and have them check the balance rate or injectors. See if it has been "modded" oversized exhaust 4"or bigger, intake bolts see if they have been removed or not, check the obdII port on the lower side of the dash driverside see if there is excessive rub marks to see if they 1 scanned the truck alot, 2 if they had a hand held programmer that they took in and out alot. Check the transmission for slippage. Besides the injector issue with the "LB7" motor they are strong. For more info about the duramax check out www.dieselplace.com There are sections just dedicated to that year ie first gen diesel lb7 series. I ahve an 03 lb7 that gets drove and have had great luck with it besides the transmission with over 200 extra hp on it.

Oh c'mon now.

It's a BS problem, I'll agree. I didn't exactly have $500 burning a hole in my pocket and a day to kill to have mine upgraded, but I've certainly heard of far worse problems with Ford, especially the 6.0. Do what you want, but I wouldn't make a decision based solely on one particular issue. They each have their quirks.

I have a buddy with a 01 dmax 4x4 and he is up over 240,000 on it now. He has had very few problems with it. Never had the xfer case worked on either. We had alot of them at my last company and they were good trucks except the ones with dual tanks, they constantly had fuel problems.

Get an 06 or 07 Classic Kenny... More hp, more torque, and better reliability.
