Suggestions for out of state purchase
I am looking for some suggestions on purchasing a car from out of state. We found a car we want to buy and plan on flying out to verify its condition and if as stated, purchase and drive home. The problem is with payment. He will not accept a banks cashier check. Is there any method of payment that can be done that protects both sides. This would need to happen on a Saturday and the wire transfer is M-F only.
What if he held the title until check cleared, would that be putting us in a bad position?
Thanks,
Rick

Is there a branch of HIS bank local to you?
You can go to a branch of his bank local to you, and you have the cashier's check written to him on their paper by them. As long as you are able to get to a branch of his bank on Saturday morning, you should have no problem verifying the funds live at his bank.
See if that flies before you investigate an intermediary service or traveling with cash.

Thanks guys, it looks like that idea will work. I setup an account with a national bank that is in both locations, wire transfered funds here to my account and it is available in my account that I can withdrawl when I arrive at the out of state location. Good idea!
