Default 6.4L Chip

Went to Sanders Ford and got my new FX4. These guy's are great. Good price and very down to earth people. It was worth the 900 mile drive to deal with some very nice people. The fuel mileage @ 75-80 was 16.1MPG checking it manually. I'm thinking of putting a chip in this one. Anyone running the 6.4 with a chip? Is there an exhaust that will work and not throw flames? Did the chip increase your milege enough to justify the price? Has anyone had luck with any additives to increase mileage? I hate this new fuel.

check out this sections, pages of info...

These guys are the best...www.innovativediesel.com SCT is the best programmer, works with the tranny, and thats what you want, no defueling into gears, nice tight shifts. Eric and Ted sell everything, and presently with the std tune a F250 CC long bed runs a 14.4, and will be faster as tunes become available. My 07 dually will 13.96 with their tunes. I just got my 08, and working with Eric for a tune on this as well. Jeff

I'm also curious about exhaust, so what did Ford do to the stock exhaust to eliminate the flame thrower?

The other problem I see is the transmission short shifts. When you nail it the shift points are close to 3,000. My 6.0 would turn over 4k. 3k is great for hauling but when I'm empty and want to go it is definetely leaving horsepower behind. The dealer told me the cuts in the end of the exhaust tips also aided in getting rid of the flames.

Your 6.0 should be shifting around 3600, not 4000. Now with the SCT you can go up to 4150 rpms, I knock my down to 4050 on the street tune and 3850 on the tow tune.. On the 6.4 they can go up to 4250.rpms. and have nice firm shifts that you can adjust from 5% to 20% firmer or decrease the same way in one or just certain gears. Very adjustable product. I sold my 07 6.0 to an OSO'r and he will be very pleased that Im giving him this plug in programmer. It helps with mileage, and performance, but like everything..you have to be responsible on how to use it. More power and a heavy abusive right foot can cause early failure in the weak links..the tranny. It also adjusts for larger tires which he plans on doing. Jeff
