Default Anybody with the new generation diesels?

6.4 Powerstroke or 6.7 Cummins? Your thoughts? I drove a friends 07' mega cab Ram with every option basically, 6.7 is a nice smooth engine and 6 speed auto is awesome when matched to it, but damn does the gas mileage majorily suck now, sucks it down like a gasser. The truck he traded in was a 4dr long bed Cummins (03' 6 speed manual) that was lifted on 35's and it got way, way better mileage (had performance mods and tuned also). This new emissions crap and regen sucks.

I've got almost 11K miles on my 6.7...it started out with really bad mileage, but now it's up to around 15-16 around town. On the highway 17-18, but it has a long way yet to be broken in.

1 ton Crew cab/DRW

I have the 6.4 PS and love it.
Have heard the Dodge's are having issues and have had numerous computer reflash's. The 6.4 has been basically trouble free. The mileage of the new trucks isn't as good as the smog free ones - thank our government (epa) for that one! But my 6.4 gets within 1 to 2 mpg of my old 6.0.

My 6.4 just hit 25k miles...mileage is now 14-15 around town; 16-17 highway non-towing. Haven't towed since last fall; but it was 11.5mpg @ 75mph w/9k-10k lbs.
If you care that much about fuel consumption how can you justify a high perf. boat? Buy a 5.9 cummins or a 6.0 PS and you'll get better than any of the new epa diesels. If you want an awesome, quiet, powerful diesel with an extremely comfortable cab, buy the Ford and ENJOY!

Have to make the right diesel choice in these days. Chevy is the only way to go. The LBZ (06-07early) is a kick ass, fully reliable engine with decent fuel mileage. The LMN (08- ) is just the same as the LBZ with the addition of the emissions controls.

Ford 6.4 , and dodge 6.7 are two completely different animals from their previous generation.

Dodge did have a recall for a flash, mine was done on the spot within 10min at the dealer. I had no problems before or after the reflash.. remember you always hear bad things about products...and thats what you remember. Almost never hear or remember the good reviews.

I agree that all you hear are bad things, and they should be taken with a grain of salt. However, you can come to conclusions based on the percentage of bad things from each brand. Brand A & B all you hear are complaints. Brand C is extremely low, only complaint really being fuel consumption during regen.

I have the new 6.7 in my Dodge 2500 crew cab 4x4 short bed with 24K miles. I get between 16 and 18 mph depending on the driving. I had the O2 sensor replaced and the ecm reflashed under warranty. No problems with the truck. The motor is quiet and the truck is very squeak and rattle free. I have had no other warranty issues and am very happy with the truck and performance. It pulls and stops my Fountian with no problems and I get around 11 mpg pulling the boat.

I have a 6.4 Diesel Ford F450 and previously had a 6.0 Diesel Excursion (2004). In my opinion the new motor is dramatically better than the 6.0 and I think the difference in fuel economy is negligible.
