No, your frame mount hitch can pull 13k lbs total no matter how its hooked. if your over 750lbs tongue you need a WD system to get to the 13k total weight.

It says your rated to pull a trailer at 13k lbs with a WD system. That easy.
Sorry, you are wrong. It does not say "your rated to pull a trailer at 13k lbs with a WD system.". It says: "Trailer rating limited to 13,000 lbs (5 897 kg) with weight distributing hitch." As mentioned earlier, I stopped by the dealership yesterday, had a chat with the service supervisor who looked it up - it is RATING and NOT actual weight. Read your manual and verify. It is beyond stupid, no questions asked there, nevertheless it is what it is.

says 15900 lbs max trailer wt....ie. a goose neck is a trailer that doesnt hook up to the frame reciever hitch and allows you to pull max trailer weight.

"trailer rating limited to 13000 lbs with wt distributing hitch/"

our frame reciever hitch is good to 13k lbs as long as your tongue weight is in check with a W/D system if you need it.

That is not an understatement... The way I see it you could derate your trailer to 13000 (or 12.500 with a 2001-2007) and be able to tow with a GMC 3500 using a WD. Or get a Ford and leave it as is, at least in my case where my trailer is rated to 15K (a standard 38 Myco). I was looking forward to a GMC, now I think the plan is on ice...

Your service supervisor is beyond stupid as they all are. Chevy doesnt care if you pull a street legal trailer that is rated to carry 100000000000lbs as long at the total loaded trailer weight, if hooked to your frame hitch, doesnt exceed 13k lbs and tongue weight is within W/D limits to get you there. Your reading way to far into it. Is it in plain enough english? Guess not. Is it beyond common sense? NO! I have a GM so I have seen it b4. This isnt the first time a car manufacture has done something like this.

That would be very interesting to see what he has to add. While you ask him, could you also ask him with respect to a 2000-2003 F-350. they might have less capacity.
