Wink What's an 8.1?

Just for some info, we have put a lot of customers 8.1L trucks together with the Raylar 8.1L -496 truck engine upgrades and other enhancements and they can tell you the pulling power(torque) and performance improvements are pretty eye opening. When you consider the extra price of the Duramax and the current cost of diesel, a little hotter 8.1L - 87 pump gas motor in that tow truck might be just the ticket!

Best Regards,
Ray @ Raylar

That is probably some hot $hit you got there, but like most people on here - I put my High Performance dollars in my boat and take whatever time it takes to make sure I arrive safely at the shoreline.. I read about the Raylar though, looks like a good setup and a good deal to increase the power on your boat. Besides, if I want to go fast I just go to work - 409.000lbs at 500MPH...

You tow 47 Fountains with gas Avalanch and Suburbans?
That's over double the tow rating.

then get a big tank from transferflow

Those tanks are high for a gm

Well, I went to check it out. It had the GT5 and the G80 option but the bed was trashed and the tailgate looked like a banana. The interior color was also unfamiliar, it was a very dark grey with a tint of green in it and looked terrible. Oh, well, I guess I am looking for another one.

If anyone finds nice clean 8.1 duallys, buy them. At my dealership we always have a call for clean used 8.1's. Because they discontinued these motors in the light duty trucks, and soon in the Top Kick, the demand will continue to grow. Add that to near $5 per gallon diesel and these trucks are a super investment.
I just put an order together for 5 new TopKick Crew Cab pickups and I'm seriously considering ordering a gas powered unit for the first time. The truck will be nearly 10 grand less than a Duramax. You'd have to drive 30,000 miles per year to justify the diesel.
Ultimately, it's the end users opinion that counts. What are your thoughts?
