Default What was the old OSO Truck?

What kind of truck was the old Ford OSO truck? Was it a F650? I remember looking at it in the classifieds, and it had a cat engine with allison trani, dump bed, drop hitch, etc.

I want to see if my local dealer can order one, but I need to tell him what exactly what it was. He said that if it was a f650, that it must have been a aftermarket conversion truck, that he could only get a f650 in a 4 door cab and chassis.

I would like a all white, or black truck with chrome everywhere.

Steve/OSO had several trucks, (GMC box truck, GMC 2500, several Dodge Duallies, and an F650).

But the truck you are referring to was an F650 with a Cat. Most of them do have some intermediate conversion company stop that puts the bed on as well as a pleasure conversion to them.

The person to talk to is mcraymond here on OSO. He is a Ford Dealer in SC I believe, and has had several built and sold here on OSO.

Outerlimits also builds and sells them. I am sure there are a few folks that are going to try to cram a SportChassis down your throat too.

I am not the expert on F650s, but I do know that the factory suspension leaves a LOT to be desired. Steve sent his to someplace near Lake Cumberland for a full air ride suspension upgrade. Someone might be able to provide their link as well.

I've been looking at Medium Duty Trucks for awhile now and when it comes to MDT's, 2L Custom Trucks out of Poolville, TX are the chit.

I like there International's but they make a smokin Freightliner also.

They mostly serve the horse and RV folks but can paint a truck to match what ever you want.

Check them out.

Steve dumped the 650 because he didn't like it. They ride for $hit and they're not built all that well. The FL is much nicer and better built. The Pete even more so. The worst part about the 650 is the short cab/windshield. You sit low- just like in a pickup truck. You can't see the corners of the truck at all. That makes them tough to maneuver in tight spaces- parking lots, ramps, etc. Plus, if you're over 5' 10" plan on neck surgery- the bumps will have you hammering the top of your head into the cab roof constantly.
