If the auction is 5 to 8k over sticker what do you think would be on the retail end? Somebody is paying over stick for them. So a Dodge store has one model they can make a little extra on. Keep in mind they are getting their teeth kicked in on the truck side.

Go try and purchase a brand new Ferrari.....50 to 70k over sticker......not greed its what the market brings....

Just because no one here wants to pay over sticker does not mean the next guy won't

BMW dealer last week is coming to the realization an M3 Convertible is not supposed to be an 80K car, high 60's for a sedan/coupe.
M3's are getting killed buy their own model 335.

The Z06's have over priced themselves for some of their clients.....plus they have the new one comming out...

I love the 335 with a chip/exhaust/wheels for 20K less.

The other thing is the dual mode exhaust stock vette is 424 HP for 45K new vs the 505 HP Z06 for 75K. 30K is a lot for 71 HP. Z06 is cooler looking but 30K can buy a lot of extras. I have seen a lot of guys daily driving Z06's since the car is soon to be obsolete with the ZR1 coming back with 6?? HP.

I love BMW's and Vettes.....I would have a Z06 if you could remove the top. That is my personal downfall.

Getting back to Mopar....the stock vette isn't all that, it can't out-run my SRT Charger (a buddy has one).......I did add a CAI and a Programmer/tuner but that's it. I've only been to the track once in my life and it was recently in the Charger.
4,445 lbs with me sitting in it
20 inch wheels, stock tires but lowered air pressure
4 door sedan

ran a 1.96 60ft, 12.9 @ 110 mph (with someone behind the wheel that has NEVER been to the track before)

Now the BMW 3's are sweet cars but the Charger/Challenger just LOOK like beasts.

the 09 models will be here in 60-75 days..thats when the silver or blue one will be in. Different gearing as well as pistol grip shifter, real posi, will be available. I paid less than sticker and he outright bought my 07 Honda Pilot for a great price..24k . I also have the option to sell it before the vehicle comes in. For me it was an exceptional deal that I couldnt pass up.

Wrong!! What is wrong w/ retail???
That is like saying - McDonalds should raise burger prices over their retail @ lunch & dinner because the demand is high.
Sorry, but that idea is wrong.

Will that dealer that was greedy give you more when you trade it in? Nope.

You can find Challengers on lots ready to go. When the 2005 Mustang came out (dealers were greedy then too) you couldn't find a Mustang on a dealers lots for months.

By charging over retail, dealers screw themselves AND the mfg. When Ford brought out the GT, dealer greed set in and they wanted $20K - $50K over retail. Well the cars didn't sell well. So they slowed and then stopped production because demand wasn't there. Demand wasn't there because the dealers inflated the price so much, no one with a brain would buy one.
Look @ Challengers right now. Dealers are doing same thing and they have cars ready to drive off right now. Yes the economy is playing a big part, even more reason to not be greedy.
Put them at retail and the inventory will move.
