wobble at 45mph.
1996 4x4 454 Chevy dually. Rides fine under/over 45 mph. Soon as I hit 45 mph the truck wobbles. I think I need to have the drive shaft balanced. Any thought would appreciated.

Did it just start doing it ? Balance the tires, look at the drive shaft if it lost a weight you should be able to see where it was. How old are the shocks, you may have a bad one with a tire thats out and 45 is the magic number for a bad shake, does it do it in any gear at 45 it could be a tranny problem if only in one gear. Need a little more info.

is it in the steering or through the body? generally drive shafts wont lose weights unless something hits it directly on the weight while spinning, it isn't impossible but improbable. depending on where it is meaning if you feel it in the wheel or through the truck, check parts that wear out quickly as in tie rod ends and ball joints also look at the rims and see if a weight is missing. also depending on whether you have oversized tires, if they are wearing properly might be time to rotate them. check with the simple things first.

Yup, Rob is probably right, I had this in a Jeep and it went away when I replaced the Ball Joints and Tie Rod ends.

Well if it has bad ball joints and tie rod ends it sould drive like crap and eat tires.

i have the same thing happening in my f350 and mine is the balljoints just to damn cold outside to change them so just gotta live with the death wobble

None on the axle but there are some for drive shafts.

No thats just a floating axle witch would mean the axle is either bolts to the outer hub like most all 3/4 and up trucks or like in Nascar where the shaft has splines at both ends and is held in with a cap at the wheel.
