If they are triple torsion axles they won't bounce, not sure if they are leaf springs. My triple 6k torsion axle Manning steel trailer weights 3k alone and doesn't bounce even when empty. With my Sonic 31ss with full load of fuel it's about 12k total on a trailer rated at 18k and it rides great.
On the original question...
Spend the $300, the axles & tires alone are worth it.
