The new Dodge 68RFE 6 speed automatic transmission is light years better than either the 47RE or the 48RE which were 4 speeds. If you like manuals I have the G56 6 speed which is also in the 2010s. It's an excellent transmission and I recommend it highly.

If I were you, towing the boat you have, I would go with either the 2500 Crew Cab Long Bed or the Mega Cab which is still offered with only the short bed. There are several upfitters that will install a long bed but they're not cheap.

Prices are dirt cheap now so order the Laramie high zoot pkg with everything except the sunroof. Real trucks do not have sunroofs OR luggage racks IMO. Check these links out for more info;

I love my 06 diesel-F250 crew, I have put 40K miles on it and so far no issues.

all the newer trucks are good ones...just gotta pick which interior you like most. and i think the mega cab longbed conversions are around 5500...but dont quote me on that for sure. I do know this, they look crazy long when done.

You're close on price but when you see it you wonder why Dodge didn't put the longbed on the Megacab from the factory. The short bed just doesn't look right.

You guys looking at new trucks, don't buy before you drive the new Ram. In the half ton you get almost 10,000lbs towing and with the Hemi(who doesn't love a Hemi??) it drops four cylinders on the hwy for better mileage when you're not towing. Win-win!

For the 3/4 and 1 tons the Laramie interiors are right up there with Ford and GM now.

36' Apache
I have the laramie 3500 equipped with sun roof and step ups that pop out when you open the door (sorry cat). It's 2008 and I just hit 30k miles on it. I really like the truck but I have had a new turbo, new egr, new water pump, lower seal in the tranny, a seal in the rear axle, and a few other problems and the truck won't be a year old Until February. The last 10k miles have be been problem free so I am hoping I have gotten all of my issues worked out.

The truck pulls my heavy apache much better than my 05 dodge 3500 did and the exhuast brake is awesome if you tow trailers every day like I do.
