Just a thought. I assume your 400ss has a radar arch that is the tallest point. How about having a setup like my arch does. The rear of the arch has two massive hinges. You remove the front mounting bolts, and the arch folds down.
Yes, the radar arch is the tallest point. I have to remove the radar dome and the light mast to get it down to 13' 5" on the Myco triple axle. I've seen people talking about folding down thier radar arch for trailering but didn't know what's involved in doing that. I wasn't sure that was even realistic with my boat and all the stuff I have on the arch. On mine I have the radar, the light mast, the side nav marker lights, stereo speakers, the remote spotlight, TV antenna, GPS reciever, horn, and VHF antennas. How do you deal with all the wiring?? Do you have any pictures of the hinge and latch mechanisms?
After getting first hand info from waconda on his tandem dually sitting his boat 8" higher, I've pretty much ruled out a tandem dually. For the amount I'll actually tow the boat I'll probably just use the trailer I have or getting a triple axle gooseneck if the right deal comes along.
Thanks for the tip on contacting him, it was very helpful. He confirmed that his boat sits 8" higher on the tandem dually than it did on the triple axle.
No problem. I knew John had just done the exact thing you were thinking about and he would give you the straight scoop.
