I agree with fordf350 that the Ford is better driving. The stupid 4 link front end on the Dodge is for the birds, the leafs on the Ford is the way to go. IMHO a Dodge 5.9 Cummins with a stick shift trumps the others for driveline reliability. In a perfect world I'd have a mid 80's 3/4 ton Chevy or a mid 90's and up solid axle Ford with the drivetrain from my 96 Dodge diesel in it.

Bought an 01 excursion 133,000 miles and replaced the trans second trip to the lake got stuck in havasu for a few extra days.........still extremely happy love the truck and tows great.

The Big Three built diesel automatic transmissions to handle hp and tq to about 100 over stock so be careful what mods you do. It used to be said that the best truck is a Ford/Cummins. That ceased to be true when the 3rd generation Dodge trucks came out.

One problem with the 7.3 that I haven't seen mentioned is turbo issues around 200,000 miles.

As to which truck will out pull the other, if you hook up two equally built trucks, the Cummins will win most times.
