Cool

RUN AWAY from any 6.0L PSD> They are not worth the headache and the NADA book will show that a 2002 7.3L has more value! Find a 2002 with 100K or if you are lucky a 2003 with the 7.3L as they were only made for the first 2 months of production.

I bought my 2003 F350 CC DRW LB 7.3L for $15K two years ago. I have since put another 142,000 miles on it and replaced only brakes & starter over regular maintenance.

I had Jody Tipton reflash the ECU which cost me $75 and its the best money I have ever spent on this truck. I get 21 mpg if I am not towing and 13mpg pulling a 14,400 35' 5th wheel toybox.

If you look... you can find the great deals out there. There is a wealth of info and parts help on http://www.thedieselstop.com

I retrofitted the 2007 front header panel, lights, bumper and chrome grill to give it an updated look. I also added the 2008 super cooling pkg front lower bumper air dam which picked me up .4 in mileage as well as made towing the rv nicer when exceeping 70 mph.

I was thinking too of going older and using it strictly as a tow vehicle. I love my 1500 that I have now, just will not do the job for a 29 foot boat. I even looked into upgrading brakes, lines, suspension, hitch etc to at least get the boat from where I buy it from. Only other real towing I'll be doing is on the Marina property

Yeah you need to find a 2002-2003 7.3 in decent shape bodywise...Really good motor, it has its faults but there's a lot of info on the Internets on how to maintain them.

Everyone on this site raves about the 7.3, they last a long time, there is no debating that, but if you drive one, then drive a new diesel they are dogs. I had one, it was a good truck, got reasonable mileage, and was trouble free. Then I drove a duramax, and realized how much of a dog my 7.3 was. Diesels have come a long way on power and driveability, I am not saying get a duramax(altough mine has been great), but drive that 07, then drive a 235hp 7.3 and you will see what I mean. This is a powerboat site by the way, and most of us want power on the road too!!
