BTW Motor Trend says Ram will unveil their long-awaited half ton diesel for 2013. They hope to get out ahead of Ford and GM in this market segment. They didn't say what motor but last I saw there were two motors under testing; a 4.2 V6 and a 5.6 V8, both built by Cummins.

They also say Jeep will bring out a truck for 2013. It's been a long time since Jeep had a truck in its lineup.

Hell it's making 800ftlbs now. Cummins diesels normally make around 2:1 tq/hp so if they bump it up to 550hp it should make at least 1000ftlbs. Twin turbo? What kind of racing?

Ya you know and I know that those idiots will say anything to make themselves sound 'in the know'. I take 99% of what they say as total BS.

I myself would rather replace a few truck parts than a whole engine but that's your call. Plus you can pump the Cummins up to 800hp and daily drive it. Try that with a Powerstroke, not gonna happen.

And BTW that's the last year for the 5.9. Your resale value will only go up from now.
when u have a boat you dont wanna tow it with 800hp pickup. esp with a dodge tranny putting the power back. daily driver or not. a torqshift will take the power better.

I was just sayin how much power the engine could take and still be driven on a daily basis. I think 500/1000 is enough power to tow almost any boat legally. And yes guys with 800hp have billet trannies, auto or manual.

I've seen a FL P2 with the MB 450/1650 motor towing a 40' Skater and it had the Allison 3200 trans, didn't even feel the boat...
