2011 Duramax 3500 integrated brake controller
I had read on another forum quite a while back that the factory in-dash brake controllers had trouble managing the electric over hydraulic brake systems. I have a 42' aluminum trailer and a buddies 38 ChrisCraft Corinthian is on it and will be Ready to launch next weekend, I have never pulled it with this new 3500 truck. I will obviously test it first but was curious if anyone had any insight as to if this was resolved on the 2011's I really need them to safely launch it, he's over 20,000 lb.

As a GM dealer tech, it is my understanding that the factory installed integrated controller only works with full electric trailer braking systems and not the electric over hydraulic systems. An aftermarket controller is required at this time.

Goto brake rite and get the adaptor. Its two wires and will make allow you 2011 to work with elec/Hyd. Cost about $40. PM me if you have questions. Takes about 20 min to install.

BrakeRite has an adapeter which works with their system, as Mike explained above. Myco keeps them in stock. I don't know if they work with ALL of the EoH systems though.
IF you do have to use/install an aftermarket controller, I love my www.maxbrake.com

Thanks for the info! This comes up from time to time for us and so far we've had to use a separate controller, this sounds like a better idea.

I have read that I can wire a couple of elec. brake magnets in line back on the trailer so it senses thier existance and the signal it sends them will run my power unit ?? I ordered some to try.

Having just done this,( 2 months ago) I can tell you that the brake rite adapter will only work if it is compatible with the control module in the trailer. If it is not, you either have to get a new control module for the trailer, or go with an add on aftermarket controller. I know this after spending about two hours on the phone with myco, brake rite, and skater.
