Not saying anything about the guys mileage numbers but when u base it on the DIC what is it averaging? Anybody know?
How close is it to hand calc?
My old truck doesn't have a DIC (96) and when I was checking coming down to FL pulling maybe 5k box trailer all I get is 12 to 13.2

I have checked the odometer and it is right on. This is with a stock 7.3 non intercooled and with the very restrictive down pipe.

It needs help!

My 01 / 7.3 is still chugging along w/ 125,000 miles. I can't see throwing down the big coin for the new trucks.

I really dont know most people will say the DIC is a liar, but I would say its probably within 10% either way or even better. Even people that hand calculate are going to have a margin of error due to not accurately knowing the fuel, fuel in the lines, and fuel filter you cant account for.

The DIC is an average, if you reset it you can watch it go up and down till finally you have enough miles where it stops moving constantly. It has to be taking the average, I dont know if its linked in with the odometer and has meter on a fuel line or its based off of time. Some trucks have your average MPG and some will give you instant or both. Like I said some say they lie, but if ththe DIC says 14 your not getting 10 either.

Hey Lenny, no buying or looking for skilled employment, just showing horses.

That was one of the best years and diesels Ford ever built in my opinion. I had one until my wife almost killed herself in it.

He STOLE the truck. I just wrote a check for 52K on Saturday for a loaded up Lariat. I called in a few favors to get that deal. Used, loaded up ones with 20K-30K miles are stilling bringing +40K around here, that is if you can find them.
