Default First Diesel

I have been looking to purchase a diesel for about a year now. I like Chevys (owened 2 3/4 tons, one 6.0 the other 8.1) but we have found a 2007 Ford f350 with 6.0 PSD with 60k for under $28,000. The dealership has no records for the truck, for what I can see its stock. What should I be looking for?

SRW or DRW. That 6.0 is not a great engine but in a 2007 it didnt nearly have the problems that the 03-05s had. Youll get better mileage than a 6.4l and 6.7l Price tag ummm IDK. I bought a 2008 F250 with 14k on it for 30k over a year ago.

What are you towing.

You guys have snow up there, we dont have anything in WTN

It’s DRW. I currently do not own a boat but will be buying something soon, hopefully a 353.

think price is a little high. but should suit your needs. Just know diesel is a different ball game as far as fuel cost and maint cost.

The 60K miles is what gets the price up. A friend just bought about a month ago, an 06 F-350 DRW, loaded except for the moonroof, brand new rubber, 4" exhaust, 3.73 gear. Shows it's gettin 20 MPG on the road at 60 mph empty. He paid 20K from a dealer, but it has 110K miles on it.
They were asking 25K, he felt he shot them a low ball offer at 20, and they said "sold". It was a chevy dealer tho.

I bought an 06 this spring from a truck dealership, same kind as my buddys, only the color is arizona sandstone beige. Mine was stone stock and in "mint" condition, it even smelled new inside. Not a nick in it and the bed even looked like new. Did the "Carfax" report on it and that showed me the complete history of the truck. I paid $22,300. for it, but it had 109K on it, and I also got a dealer warranty (5 year, 100K mile) on the complete driveline for an extra $1200. Well worth it as I just took it in to the dealer for ERG, turbo work, and replace the front hub. Glad I got the warranty.

Do the Carfax report on the one you're looking at.

At this point, I generally wouldn't recommend a 6.0L PSD to anyone I would consider a friend. After 60,000 miles, they become nothing but trouble from my experience, just one thing after another. That being said, you'd still have 40,000 miles and 2 years left on the warranty, so there's some peace of mind for you.

28K is a bit too high for that truck.

What?! You've got to be kidding me?!?! Wow, I didn't realize that. That's pretty damn lousy. It only goes to reenforce my point that even Ford must have no faith in the 6.0L past 60,000 miles. Sad shame.

o8 was the same way. Even my 2011 F150 is only a 5 year/100k. Ford hasnt jumped on the 100k bandwagon yet for everything

What's New for 2007
There are a variety of minor options and drivetrain changes on the 2007 Ford F-350 Super Duty pickup. SuperCabs are eligible for the Lariat Highline Package, which adds chrome details and black leather seating. Crew Cabs can be fitted with the Lariat Outlaw Package, which offers a black-with-red-accents color scheme inside and out. A power equipment group is now available on base XL models, as is a cloth front bench seat. F-350s equipped with the base 5.4-liter V8 have a standard 4.10 rear axle. Due to strict emissions standards in California, New York, Maine, Massachusetts and Vermont, the 5.4-liter engine with a manual transmission is dropped, as is the 6.8-liter V10 in those states. Finally, Ford has extended powertrain warranty coverage to five years/60,000 miles.
