I had a white 05 6 speed Z51 with Bassani exhaust and loved it. Only had about 12k on it when I sold it but loved everything about it except for the constant squeak from the targa top. Was a really solid car.

I have a 06, Z51 stick. 238 duration /.605 lift cam, headers, full exhaust with controler, and intake and tuned. around town it gets 19mpg even playing, and on trips still gets 28mpg. makes 438rwhp on the dyno.
Love the car, I DD it, heated seats, Nav, Hud. everything. lowered at that.... but going to sell once my boat sells as i want a LOT bigger boat. Pm if you intrested as its got to go soon. but you will love any C6.

I cant say enough good thinsg about the drive train. LSX motors are amazng push rod engines. great power and reliablitly, and good on gas, and light wiehgt as well.
before this I had a Trans Am, bult and drove it for 132k before i sold it and it was still holding strong at the track at 150k last i talked to him. (that car pulled the wheels at the track, to give you an idea of teh abuse it saw as a DD)

Yeah - but the Z06 won't be in my price range - I want something I can completely treat as a DD. It will NEVER be in the garage (because I don't have any garage space), and I'm not going to treat it like a queen. Just get in and drive, so I couldn't justify the extra 10+k for the Z06.
Charlie - you had any problems of consequence on yours with that mileage?

I have 140,000kms on ours. We also have a C6 Z06.
The C5 is just as much fun.

you can find a deal on some C5's z's too. BUT I persoanlly like the C6 better. even if for one thing... the keyless part.
man do you get used to not having to get keys out to unlock it or to start it or when you get out of it... spoils you really

AR15 - Yeah I have thought about that but there are a number of things about the C6 I like better. Looks, interior, remote start etc....
Plus I believe an LS3 stock puts out more power than the C5 Z06 (unless I am mistaken and in later C5 years they put out more).

I've had my '05 roadster since '08 and no problems or issues at all. Great car!

A C5z, and a ls2 c6 are neck and neck track times, and everything. (highly debated subject actually.)
the ls3 cars do make a little more power. in stock form. bottom ends still are the limmiting factor when building either and they both have the same points that fail so, 15 rwhp in stock form is about the basic differnce. that and parts are cheaper more common i think for the LS1-ls2-ls6 style heads. then the newer heads.

If you are ??? the life span of a LS engine, it is alot. Like 300k + if you maintain. I have had a few LS engines apart with over 145k on them and some still had cross hatching marks in the cylinders, It's like they don't wear.

got a buddy with stock bottom end over 210k, and still racing it... he would build a new motor but he said he has to see how long it will go, its been too good of a motor to him.
and this buy builds everything.
