All 3 brands have major issues in 1 form or another, you just gotta pick your poison of which you'd rather deal with!

Ford is taking a beating on the 6.0 & 6.4 engines, but all the big 3 are having problems w/ there diesels after the mandate of all the emissions bull crap. The 6.4's become much, much more reliable w/ some deletes & after market add-on's. Even after that they still won't get the mileage as the other brands, but you will be able to outrun mustangs & camaros in a 4door 8,000lb truck!!

Just remember this, Ford didn't take our money like the other 2!!!!

I'm not a die hard Ford guy either, I like several cars or would take any truck from all of the big 3.
agreed
if you're considering a 6.4,try to get a 2010...they are better,and easier on fuel

That is crazy to haul that much with the cheap frame chevy puts on there trucks. Ford frame weighs twice as much at almost the same tow rating. Guess that is why 90% of all heavy duty fleet use Ford.

6.4 is a great motor. And Ford builds a great truck. The 6.4 needs all the emissions deleted (DPF/CAT/EGR) and a Spartan or H&S programmer and they get ~15-17 mpg city around 20 highway. the 6.4's aren't plagued with head gasket problems like the previous 6.0 trucks had. the 5R110 is a pretty good trans and can handle a lot of power.

The only problems with the 6.4's as others stated is their radiator/thermostat problems. Which is under warranty. The 6.0 from Ford is the biggest pile of doodoo motor every built. I have a slow old 2002 F250 with the 7.3 and it is bullet proof!

The cummins is a great motor, but the Dodge trucks are big 'ol piles of Dookie! They front end just falls out of them, and they literally feel like a 1500 truck to me, not an "HD". The duramax's (Built by Isuzu) are good after '05.5/06 I believe, probably the most comfortable trucks with their IFS and are very quiet motors and generally get great MPG. The early duramax's have a lot of injector problems, and also like to wear a hole in the transfer case and puke out all the fluid and leave you at the side of the road

everyone has their good and bad, Overall any truck '07+ with all of the emissions need to be removed to get the best out of the truck.

as they say if you could have a "perfect truck" it would be a Ford truck, with a cummins motor and an Allison transmission!

Your right Ford has a much stronger frame is that why you see so many fords that pull something on the side of the road with a broken radiators seems like a little frame flexing going on.

I have a 08 350 SRW. I put a S&H mini max and a 5" Flo Pro exhaust on it at 50K. It has 95K on it now. I am getting 18-20 mpg on highway. It has been a great truck for me.

I have no clue. I pull with an F650 C7 Cat and mine is rated for 26K. I just can't see a Duracrap pulling that much weight.

The problem with dodge is everything else from tranny, front end and the body holding up.

After having two ford diesels and seeing whats out there if I were to go back diesel I would probably go Duramax.

After 2008 all these engines were created just as crappy equal because of the DPF. Yeah you can delete and tune and such, but how long is it going to take you to make up in fuel savings to pay for that 2-3 grand delete system. And dont let people fool you that these delete systems dont cause any problems either.

Its impressive. Got done towing the 29 fountain 650 miles and got 11.3 one way and 11.8 the other way with cruise set at 67-68. Bump it down to 60 I would think it would have been well over 12mpg. Any boat under 10k ish I would not be caught dead in a diesel after owning this truck.

All I can say is GM says it can pull over 30,000# when i'm at 26,000# GCVR very seldom it will drop out of high gear climbing a mountain @ 70 MPH with the cruise on and i'm not pulling a boat that will cut through the wind it is a 5th wheel enclosed trailer.
