or ir you have 3 8 lug 8000 lbs axles remove the front one add a spring perch and change the fenders and be done with it..i think 16k should be enough to hold yoyur boat and then some..my dads cougar only had a twin axle trailer and he had tripple engines and 3 ssm drives...

My old 402 Formula at the truck scales, with NO fuel, had 15,300 lbs on the trailer axles. With your "e" rated transforce tires, max load is 3195lbs per tire. Multiply that times 4 tires, your gonna be maxing the hell out of them, if not overloading them. Running them that way in 90* summer heat, is asking for problems. I bet that boat will surprise you weight wise
Can u wheel that trailer over to a scale and weigh it ? Also keep in mind if the boat only has 1/4-1/2 tank of fuel right now, adding another 100-140 gallons of fuel to the belly tanks will increase the tongue weight, key word "should " lol

Dan, I would do no serious mods until you get tires that are what you want and carry extra tire pressure. I did this and slid my boat up 3 inches and it was night and day difference with my 3/4 ton suburban towing a boat of 10-11k dry and steel trailer.
If the Donzi at 12k lbs was 1 or 2 inches back on trailer it would hop like crazy. Tongue weight will eliminate a lot of the trailer walk.
Good luck, project looks great.

well mr. FIXX
Removed front tires and the weight is 1050lbs at the tongue !
The springs and tires are not liking it thou, those would have to be upgraded.
Not a whole lot of travel left:
and thats a Kevlar boat which is 1000lbs lighter .. ouch
