I'm shirt and tie 5 days a week and DD my F250 crew cab 6.5' bed. I commute to the city and live in the suburbs.
I just towed my Sunsation for the first time this past weekend and it was a BREEEEZZZZEEE!
Right near your budget I picked up a 2011 F250 Lariat with 27k miles, all the fixings, and the 6.7 PowerStroke to boot! Personally, when you look at the ratings and then the overall creature comforts compared to the competition, Ford is tough to beat.
The F250 will cover you up to 14k

I'll see if I can post a pic here in a bit. The F250 will cover you up to 14k

Nate5.0, don't go bigger boat and skimp on the tow vehicle. My advice is a 3/4 ton diesel as well even if you have to wait another year to move up in boat size. A 1500 won't cut it. You'll be glad you did.
My god that's a lot of rearend squat for a 3/4 ton diesel. 288 Sunnys aren't "that" heavy. Guess they don't build truck suspensions like trucks used to have anymore.

If anything I will go smaller boat.
I have to daily the truck and enjoy driving so I want something to fit that. While I love boating it will be a weekend thing so if push comes to shove the boat will go down a touch.
This is why I am leaning toward the formula 29 with twins. Seems to be the smaller/lighter of the group but gives me twins I want as well.

In your shoes, I'd go reconsider the older dedicated pulling truck. With the cost savings, buy a car you'd feel comfy driving all the time. Yes 4 vehicles is a pain, but sometimes the right thing to do.

I haven't weighed the tongue weight but I'm sure it's north of the traditional 10%. The boat is sitting perfect on the trailer but even so, it does squat.
The Fords have been compared to Chevys for having more squat but it is what it is...

this is a very stout package, I'd like in a GMC badge, of the boats mentioned you will be forced into a 3/4 ton except for the 292 Formula, it can be done with a properly setup pickup, I tow my 303 Formula with a 05 Sierra 5.3, plenty of power, not enough tranny, 09-to current with a 6 speed and 373's rear end is the ticket, and it also depends on how far your towing, 85% of my towing is within 5 miles,

I wasn't trying to "bust your balls". Sorry if it came across that way. I'm just surprised how (in general) newer 3/4 ton trucks squat like yours with tongue weight. It used to be if you bought a 3/4 ton or bigger, you needed to be near or at maximum payload to squat them down and they rode like farm tractors unloaded. Seems like there's too much emphasis on more of a car-like ride unloaded with truck manufacturers nowadays.
