You have to get the salt out of the heat exchanger.
If you have a 496 Mag/HO, the oil cooler also has sea water going through it.

Had beautiful steel trailer painted and striped to match my boat. 6 chrome wheels… I spent more time trying to keep the trailer up than I did the boat. No galvanized brake parts (backing plates etc) so the brakes were always a mess.
I would sell it while it is still beautiful and everything works. I love my aluminum trailer. A steel trailer will rust from the inside out. You need to flush your motor(s) to get the salt water out of the heat exchanger and the risers. Also you need to flush the drive(s). I would recommend Salt Away. IT's a great product and will only add about $45 or so a year to your upkeep and save you much more in the long run. Good luck.

Had buddy that tried the steel trailer in salt, was a custom painted box section for wakeboard boat. He was way diligent and it lasted little over a year and nearly broke in half. Just sell it, no way you can coat the interior surfaces well enough to stop corrosion. And when ( not if) it breaks it's a big day.

Priobe, like Sydwayz said you're going to have to flush it, anywhere salt water goes fresh water should flush it and take its place before sitting. I know this is the trailer section but something else you should consider as well is a sea strainer and fresh water flush kit for saltwater boating.

Good luck

I have a 2005 extreme boxed steel trailer for my Eliminator Daytona.

402 hours Key West, Destin, Houston (Galveston), etc trailer works great. I did paint it this winter because I like all my stuff to look brand new but it was not about to fall apart or anything. I had it bead blasted before the HOK candy was sprayed and all the rust spots were just on the surface.
