My buddy had a 2006 cclb 3500 duramax. He had 428k on his. Beat the tar out of it but it still looked and drove great. He sold it for 19k. Awesome trucks. I wouldnt be scared of it.

I think that you are under estimating the weight of your SCARAB on the trailer.
My 92 - Scarab34 weighed 10,000 lbs dry. Put fuel in it and load it on the trailer and I bet it weighed in at over 13,000 lbs.
I bet your is closer to 15,000 lbs on the trailer.

Tinker, you may be right. One of these days I'm going to run it across a scale and see. I just know that it a a lot of weight. My current truck works fine for the short distance I go (less than a mile) to the launch ramp. I'm just thinking ahead to the future for when I want to trailer the Scarab out to Lake Michigan again. Surprisingly when I took the Scarab out to Lake Michigan 2 years ago, the truck got about 9 MPG pulling it from Detroit out to just north of Montague, (just north of Muskegon). I got the same mileage when I was towing my 24' Sea Ray flybridge back from Arizona last spring.

not much more with half the mileage and only 65,000 on a new long block.

as a guy who is currently in the market for a new or used Duramax, trust me when I say, the used prices are very over inflated right now. This is due to lack of inventory both new AND used. My current 2008 Duramax has 110K miles on it and I'm amazed at the trade-in value. However, Chevy just yesterday released more cash incentives on remaining 2016 trucks in stock. Like almost $5K off. Now the challenge is to find a truck! The used trucks that I have found are actually priced higher than I can get a brand new one for. Regarding the truck you're looking at with 327K miles, go over it with a fine toothed comb and if it checks out OK, low ball the guy and see what happens. Like I said, mine only has 110K on it but I have never had a single issue with my D-Max. Glow plugs are the only thing I ever replaced.

I had two pipelines come through my property in the last couple of years. Some of those trucks had massive miles on them not to mention idle time. They told me that the dmax engine was good for 500k miles easy with maint and were outlasting the newer Dodges. Did not see many older Fords. Highest mileage DMax I saw one out there with 406k on a 2008/2009
My lbz just turned 250k, I have had a water pump, 3 glow plugs, a water leak at the oil cooler, alternator, 2 sets of hydroboost hoses, shocks, neutral safety switch. Original brakes still, plan on keeping it for at least another 100k and spending the money on a bus.
