Honda CRF250R
I am considering trading my Polaris Predator 500 for 2, 2007 Honda CRF250R's. One is supposedly in good condition and the other needs a top end, gas tank and carb to be complete.
Reading through the CRF manual they seem like they are very high maintenance - higher than I want to deal with just to ride around with my 3 and 5 year old. Anyone have any feedback on these bikes?

If the bike was run easy and taken care of it will be fine if it was raced every weekend by a young kid it is probably ready to blow,my son use to race one and it was good for about 2 seasons then we would get rid of it

Go find some Honda XR's, 250/400/600 for you and an 80 for the kids. The only thing more dependable and durable is an anvil.
The adult bikes haven't been made in a while, the CRF made the adult XR's obsolete. Kids 80's are still around.

I agree, if raced they are grenades. If you're just putting around on the trails it will be fine. But you would be better off with the X version as opposed to the R. All of the XRs as above are better suited for the trails. The only thing I don't like about the 400s is how hard they can be to start when hot.
Personally on the trails I like 2 strokes. Very little upkeep, quieter and piss less people off, and usually cheaper. That probably doesn't help you lol. Not sure what you are trying to get price wise. Maybe you could part the 1 bike out, suspension etc and make the trade work better for you. One thing I noticed all winter long up here the blown up 250s were a plenty, and very cheap. Was thinking about flipping a couple, but parts are not cheap. And if they have been taken apart, I would just walk away.

Well - the guy flaked on me when I started asking questions about his bikes so the hell with it. Ill just keep my predator - since I've only got about 5 hours on it since a new rebuild I don't mind. Plus a four wheeler is easier with the kids because I can jump off and get them unstuck and get back on and not have to turn it off or lay it over..
