Chevy 8.1 Headers
Anyone added headers to their 8.1 Allison combo?

Re: Chevy 8.1 Headers
Yes. I just put Gibson headers on my '01.
I also added a K&N Air intake system, and a Hypertech powerprogrammer.
Mucho hp now. Big, noticable difference in power.
I think Gibson may be the only one who has headers for that truck. By the way, I have a set of used manifolds for sale.
I changed to the headers mainly because I had an exhaust leak, so I need to take the manifolds off in order to change the gaskets. Also, I just smahed my truck, so while the front clip was off, I figured I would change them.
I don't know how you are going to change them with the entire fron end together. Good luck!!!

Re: Chevy 8.1 Headers
I put a Banks system on my '00 454.. Good headers. They probably have a set up for your truck.. Not cheap, but they hold up. 1" flanges...
I also put the banks set up on my '94 454. Bigger results with that truck.

Re: Chevy 8.1 Headers
Hell how can you afford headers after filling the tank so much...lol Just kidding I just traded my 02' with the 8.1 for an 05' with a D-Max becasue of the mpg I was only seeing 9-10 mpg without the boat.... The 285's didn't help much....

Re: Chevy 8.1 Headers
I had a Banks setup on my 460 Ford that worked real well, but they don't have a kit for the 8.1. I was hoping to find someone who has tried the new Stainless Works long tube headers.

Re: Chevy 8.1 Headers
The Gibson headers I used aret he shorties. They are a direct bolt up from the stock manifolds. The tubes are not that long, and definately not equal length. I got mine from Stylin' Concepts. http://www.stylingconcepts.com/
