Ford does go out the to bid on thier filters, but it is bid to a certain spec put together by the engineers. I run Donaldson myself and have been problem free with my 03 6.0L for over 200,000 miles.

I heard Donaldson filters down to 10 or 12 microns, Airaid is 2 microns, not sure on K&N. Sounds like Airaid is better than stock or Donaldson.
