Re: 1980 30' Velocity - Redo in progress
Here's more detail.... I got the boat as it is right now having sat for at least 10 years. One of the 355 sbc's had blown and the other was pulled for a hot rod. It went well over a hundred with that setup.
It now has some stocker 350's in it. I haven't even attempted to fire them but they look like they are all there. I'm hoping to make it run with this power but not yet sure. Once it hits the water, it will be back to the drawing board looking for new and more SERIOUS power. I'll probably stick with sbc's since it has a lot of very good parts on it already (exhaust, intakes, pulleys, etc....).
I just baught two stainless drop down seat frames... really want to provide access to cabin and finish it (bare now). Also need some rear seating... has to become a bit more pratical for the wife to buy in.

Tripps... I just met a guy in FLA with an 81 and twin 250 Evenrude 4 strokes. Cool boat. All white...
He has some connections at the factory and tells me there were only 11 made in 81!!! I'd bet even fewer in 80 (that's mine).

Re: 1980 30' Velocity - Redo in progress
Tripps,
If I can make it go that fast with a few 400hp smallblocks I'll be dancing .
How fast is yours with the three 200's? Any pics of it or your buddy's?
My buddy in FLA with 2X250 goes about 68 so we might be talking a better ratio then you think!

Re: 1980 30' Velocity - Redo in progress
I go 70 with 600 hp,if they are makin 200 each,i have pic's but i have diffuclty postin pics,my friends io one is all yellow and says velocitoy on the side. according to Bblades im runnin 9.8 % slip so im not touchin it. Im quite sure your buddy's 30 with 2 250's is probally better, only 2 gearcases in the water vs my 3 so,i dont know, but im usin what i got, when i cant find any more stock 200 power heads,i'll consider something else, but im haveing cheap fun now and can do mostly everything myself no marina bills ill try to post some pic's tripps
