Vee Lite

Hi all, i used to sell some Velocity boats, Actually i wasn't good at it but i love the boats, Had both a 26 and 32, the 32 ran 80 mph on Radar with some outboard style chopper props with 454 mags carburated ( 350 Propshaft HP ) engines, used to smoke Fountains and the like with 500's in em. ANy way the question is why is there not a Velocity (probably VR1) racing in Vee Lite class, These boats need to go bout 90 + with a merc 525 and canopy, and weigh 4750. The lil 26 i had ran a 385 hp 454 mag mpi and it ran 72, i dont know what the weight was thou. Give your opinion on the deal. J

Thoroughbred/Velocity 32'
I've often wondered why there haven't been Factory-backed SV/SV lites...perhaps the investment in rigging a deck with a canopy??

Velocity 322 - 700/NXT
There would have to be considerable factory involvement due to the tooling neccessary to produce one. Not to say it could not be done. It has crossed my mind to jump in the ring at some point if there was considerable factory backing.

Factory involvement was non existant when isold Velocity's, but that is all history, What speeds do you think could be obtained?? I would think a VR-1 version hull with the 525 and canopy would be competitive. However I only have recently seen one Velocity running in SBI/APBA in p-5 class which has a speed limit of 72 mph so I wonder what HP he is running, and what the weight of that boat is, What are others getting on 525 powered vr 1's and what does the pleasure version weigh? I don't even know of a fountain in Vee lite its mostly extremes and phantoms 7' beam boats. However I don't see why a 8' boat couldn't be competitive.

2004 Air Nautique (sold the Velocity)
My pleasure VR-1 has an "upgraded" 500EFI that dynoed 550HP. With windshield, full cabin, and half tank of gas it will run in the low 80s GPS. I am sure a few more mph are possible with shorty lowers and/or extension box, but I doubt that 90s would be in reach. I was happy with the 76 I saw last weekend with 6 adults and 2 full coolers!

I just listed it for sale: http://www.offshoreonlyclassifieds.c...o15403-en.html
