Here's some pics from 1982 Cypress Gardens Powerboat Mag. Test of my Factory Demo Velocity 22/ Family fun boat, with 200 Merc. Great Family runabout with tons of room & storage. The 22 was perfect for our day outings. Bob Nordskog tested it & told me he loved it.

Default (some Mo) Velocity History

This is the 1'st catalog for the (then) new Vel. 22. Catalog designed by myself & shot by My old Pal Pete Smyth in the Loxahatchee River in '83, near my home. Great day- some nice photos. Pete was the best. I'll post the other side, with description & specs. this was a single sheet- front & back. Thought some of you may enjoy some of this archival stuff from Velocity's early days, when we were in the original old rickety Pompano shop.

OK Velocophites, this is the back of the (then) new Vel. 22's catalog sheet. Some pretty interesting stuff here- Photo of the late great Walt Beasley with the checkered after winning his 1'st ever offshore race, in the 1'st 22 ever raced, 1'st "black" hull from Vel. (forbidden stuff). Walt & Tabu also set a Kilo record with this the very 1'st hull pulled from that fresh mold in the old Pompano shop. Lotsa "firsts" in that photo. Velocity was then a very young struggling shop with fresh ideas. The 22' was a revenue generator - easier to build/rig & deliver, and the few dealers we had loved them. Anyone remember Walt & Joan? Remember his featherweight 30 footer Scarlet O'Hara's with the Bamboo reinforcement? I'll post pics soon. (if anyone's interested)

Wolfe, I have a question for ya... I worked a summer at the Mopar parts depot that used to be here in Orlando, and while I was there I met a guy that used to work at the Regal Plant, which for those who don't know is also here in Orlando, over by the airport.

Anyway, he worked there during the time that Regal built the Velocity. He had told me a couple of interesting tidbits that I have never been able to confirm or deny. He claimed that all or most of the "Regal" 30's were built at the same time and stamped as they were sold between 87 & 89. He had also said, that because of the pending lawsuit between Regal & Steve, that the 30's that were sold during that time were not to have the Regal name anywhere on the boat.

As I said, never confirmed or denied, but some interesting bits. (I do know that our 88' 30, did not have the Regal name on it.)

I left Velocity prior to the Regal deal, so I wouldn't know. At the time I was considering my own Legal Action against good old Steve, but alas, Uncle Sam beat me to it , I didn't wanna stand in that LONG line only to learn there was nothing left. Time heals, Life is awesome & Steve's ........well....."Steve."
I saw him at the Chicago Boat Show shortly after the Regal deal. We were "cordial." He didn't seem pleased being in the Regal booth.
