Same bottom, deeper cabin, not sure about the freeboard. Regal supposedly also let them get overweight. I would expect the true Velocity or Thourghbred be a little faster.

The older boats are much lighter and much faster. The regal 22's were heavier then the stepp 22's. And the 23 were even heavier then that. It will take a lot more power to make a 23 run over a 22.

My 23 regal velocity pushes 70 all day with a 383 stroker and a Bravo One. It is a fun boat to drive and really flies on the pad.
Have fun with it.

I agree with the last poster! the 22' and 23' are great small boats that are a blast to drive and run faster than almost anything out there as long as you can keep it up on the pad. Enjoy the boat, you've got a great platform to work off of!

They are a lot of fun to drive. That's why I have 2.

The 23' will probably not handle the higher HP and speed as well as the 22'. I remember the 23's having a harder time staying on the pad back in the day. I believe Regal bought the molds around '86 or '87. They are fun boats to drive.

I have rigged and driven tons of Velocities and the 22 is a great fast boat if you balance it properly. The Regal 22 was actually build by Steve's guys at another shop in Deland, FL while Regal built the 23 and 30. I have been in 22's that were bone stock 330hp that run 70 GPS out of the box. I also have driven 22's that run 110 mph with a 700 hp/ Bravo set up. Tons of fun and a great boat! Maybe someone will get the company up and running again!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am thinking of purchasing a 1998 22' with 7.4L MPI (454) and Bravo 1. Is there anything I should know about the boat?
