Padraig,
The boat came with two different props.
1. Bravo 4 blade 28 pitch. (best speed GPS 60 MPH)
2. Hydromotive quad 4 that I sent to Mike in Christmas Florida. He reworked to a 27 pitch. The best speed GPC 65 MPH @ 4600 RPM. I sent it back to Mike (excellent customer support) and he reworked it. the results are 4800 RPM @ 67-1/2 MPH (less than 1/2 a tank of fuel and no water in holding tank.

Congrats. Good looking 290! Very clean. Check a thread of mine VR1 Whipple Stage 2 numbers. I really like my Bblades labbed 28 and 30p Bravo one's.
BTW.. VR1 and 290SC have same running surface/ bottom.

Welcome to the Velocity family and to OSO!
Was the 28 Bravo prop in good shape? I wouldn't expect it to be that much slower than the Hydro 27, and I'd second the motion to try a stock 26 Bravo. Just my opinion- the Bravo's are 2-4 mph slower than the Hydro's but overall have better drivability.

Bravo prop that came with the boat seemed in good shape, but I believe it was not stock. Prop was very slow on the top end, and only spinning 4600 RPM. From all that I have read I believe this package should run a solid 70 GPS. I will send out this 28 Bravo to get reworked to a 26 and see what that gets us. Thanks for all the advice.

Tinkerer…We'll see you out there. Any good places to stay in a hotel with the boat or just stay on the boat…what do you suggest? Have two Dachshund's who will be with us. We are coming from Grosse Pointe…what is the best launch to use?
